What is curiosity? The dictionary defines curiosity as “a strong desire to know or learn something.” As a five-year old boy, my hometown veterinarian hoisted me onto a stool and had me peer through a microscope to see a parasite that had infested my dog’s fur. That vet, perhaps unknowingly, created a burning desire of curiosity within me. A curiosity that I have carried throughout my whole life. Do you have that curiosity? Do you have a desire to learn how science moves from an idea to the energy or products that we use in our everyday lives? If so, you are already on the path to becoming an engineer.
